The Bachelorette 8 Premiere: "Put on your big girl panties and move on with it"

The Bachelorette begins with Emily Maynard in her hometown with six-year-old daughter, Ricki. Emily’s nice house, car and that Ricki are shown. There is video of her experience on The Bachelor with Brad. We see Emily getting ready for the big night and Ricki walks in her bathroom in heels.
Chris Harrison does his entrance, tells about Emily’s first love dying and the fact she and Brad did not work out. Emily shares she is thankful for the experience and is ready to put the past behind her. She has a great head on her shoulders, and even better shoes on her feet.

Meeting the guys:
Favorites:
Jef: Oh the Jef with one f. Rode in on a skateboard, and Emily said, “I was going to ride that later.” He was not kidding when he said people underestimate him. The skateboarding entrance and the fact he is trying to save the world, give him a lot of points in my book. Jef is to water as Toms is to shoes.

Doug: Single father, first impression rose and had a cute note from his son.

Arie: a very attractive racecar driver, which Emily does not mind. Didn’t have any antics for Emily.

Sean: First out of the limo, adorable and has a lot of charm. He and Emily would have beautiful babies.

Charlie: had a traumatic experience that gave him a head injury and is looking for the second chance. He seems like a good guy.

Ryan: former football player, works with children, athletic and has a cute dog. He had a really cute note, one side said, “You are beautiful” and the other said, “I’m so nervous.”

Others:

Joe: LIMILY!
Tony: Father of a five-year-old, fitness guru and was cheated on. Glass slipper guy, had his heartbroken and had a weird thumb joke.
Kyle: Turquoise tie, Emily’s favorite color.
John: “Wolf” I am sure he is there to save Emily from Kalon (vampire.)

Chris: Seemed extremely interested in Emily, she thinks he is hot and gave her bobble heads. I am afraid about this one.

Travis: Oh egg guy, I thought an egg was a symbol of breakfast, not Emily and Ricki. He should have opted for a flower.
Aaron: Biology teacher, rocking the Reid look, with glasses.
Randy: Dressed up as a grandma, almost forgot to introduce himself and Emily called him “creative.”
Nate: Wore purple, Emily thinks he is cute and smells good (according to Em.)
Alessandro: Kisses on both cheeks, from Brazil and brought out the foreign language.

Jackson: Terrible quote said, during an awful entrance.
David: Emily, Emily, Emily. Enough said about that one. “Doesn’t want to toot his own horn.” Wow!
Michael: Long hair, brought a guitar pick and is “Music Mike from Austin.” I hope he isn’t Brad’s neighbor.
Stevie: An MC who does not help the Jersey stereotype.

Kalon: Twilight wannabe, except he didn’t sparkle, who opted for a helicopter over a Volvo. “He has a few dollars in his pocket.” A reformed womanizer? He really put a huge red target on his back, and it didn’t help him get the first impression rose.

Lerone: Loves real estate, thinks Emily being a single mom is attractive and has a cute dog.
Jean-Paul: Didn’t know anything about Emily, does he live under a rock? He tried to be that guy. No accent either.

Alejandro: Double earring, from Columbia and Emily’s Spanish was decent.
Michael: Rehab consultant and long hair.
Brent: Six kids, wow! Had a name tag.
Cocktail Party: Drink that Haterade

Jef hopes the guys are really good guys. He is super caring, calls Emily a “hot item.” Emily tells him “I have been looking for you.” Thinks he has a cool vibe, and hopes he thinks she is cool too. They are so cute!
Dougster brings out the note from him son, Austin. They bond over their parenthood. When it comes to Emily, I think a person with one child would work for her, but there can’t be too much of a transition for Ricki. Ultimately, I think she will pick someone without a child, because of the hardships of blending families. Hopefully Dougster makes it far, he is a good guy.
Kalon pulls her away, talks about his mom being a single mom. Sean came in and asked if he could have some time with her? Kalon said, “I do mind,” and Emily felt awkward. Thankfully Sean the cutie did get time.
Arie offers Emily his jacket (sweet) and Emily said she was from the mountains. He told her he is a racecar driver and Emily takes it very well. It may have taken her a moment to process the information, but Emily thinks he would be hot in a racecar.  If anyone doubted her strength, they were shut down at this point. She took it as a way to find common ground and wasn’t hurt. I think she has moved on from the traumatic experience.
First Impression Rose: Doug
Emily really appreciated Austin’s note and gives him the First Impression Rose. All of the guys are happy it was not Kalon. I’m sorry Kalon, you show up in a helicopter and don’t get the First Impression Rose, it is time to do some self-reflection.

The first impression rose, gives a person a high chance at winning, being the runner-up or the next lead. I wonder if Doug will be as lucky.
Chris Harrison Returns:
Emily was afraid she might not like anyone. She was very surprised, and said, “Well hell who am I going to send home?”

Quotes:

"I believe in love and fabulous shoes.” - Emily
"Put on your big girl panties and move on with it" - Emily
“You look like a princess.” -Little Ricki
“A minivan full of babies.” Emily
“I think I failed both so I have a lot to learn.” -Emily on Chemistry and Biology.
“This is not anything like my normal life, when I go to the grocery store guys are not pulling me in 15 different sections of the grocery store.” -Emily,  I’m sure they only pull Em in five different directions tops.

Season Preview:
I counted and counted and could not get the exact number each person’s appearance. Jef was shown the most, followed by Arie, Doug, Ryan, Sean and Chris. Top six, anyone? I think so!
In Ben’s season preview, the top six were shown over and over. I could be totally off base. Let me know your favorites, spoiler free of course. I am so excited to be back in Bachelorette mode.
Xo,
Ashley
